The Hustle Factor – Motivational Speaker Las Vegas

June 3, 2015 By Dan Lier Leave a Comment

Today’s success track is about Hustle. You see what’ I’ve found is there are two parts to success in any project, goal or outcome, and those two parts are skill and hustle.

Last month, one of my Keynote events was for the Tourism Association of New Mexico, which was attended by over 360 business owners across the state, all looking for the edge. My talk was titled Maximize Your True Potential which I shared 3 strategies to increase performance from the inside out – because all actions and performance start with your psychology.

One of the intangibles for success is what I call the Hustle Factor. Hustle is the great equalizer or the great separator. Your decision to out hustle your competition can equalize or overcome potential deficiencies – or if all things are fairly equal, it can separate you from your competition and seal the deal. Hustle is the great equalizer, or the great separator.

Over the course of my career, I’ve some people who are incredibly talented, charismatic and charming. It’s seems almost “unfair” from a talent perspective, yet what I’ve found is those innately talented people, sometimes they lean on that talent. They get comfortable… and in some cases they even get lazy or take things for granted.

The message here is simple, yet so important and I hope you hear me clearly. You can make up for a lot of deficiencies and outperform your competition with the decision utilize the hustle factor. I know as a two-time national champion in college basketball, I was not in the top 5 talent-wise on our team, and I knew that, yet with Hustle, I was able to bridge the gap, secure a starting role and contribute on both of our national championship runs.

How do you increase your hustle factor?

As a human behavior expert, hustle is an intrinsic drive that comes from “how You see yourself” as a person. If you see yourself “bigger” than you are right now, you’ll continue to Hustle and fight for wins, because your subconscious is taking you where you need to go. If you feel you’ve reached your peak, your hustle factor will subside.

As I close out this month’s message, start today by seeing your future self in your mind as the top performer in the country, the top performer in your company, the effective leader, the best closer, the best mother, the best father or spouse. Hold an image of yourself in your mind that’s “bigger” than you are right now. The bigger or more successful you see yourself, the more hustle you will show.

Make it a great week, and let’s maximize your Hustle Factor starting today. See yourself “Bigger” than you are right now. I’m Dan Lier, and remember, this is your year to #RiseAbove

Be the Change You Want to See – Las Vegas Keynote Speaker Dan Lier

May 11, 2015 By Dan Lier Leave a Comment

Today’s success track is on focused on creating a balance in regards to investing in your outer self and your inner self.

Last month was an incredible month for me, which typically means a lot of travel. I don’t enjoy the actual travel itself, yet I always meet interesting people and learn a few things along the way.

On a flight back from PHX, I was sitting beside two young businessmen who were evidently into brand name designers, as they were talking about their shoes, belts and business suits and how they had the “tightest” wardrobes in their office. They were both on the same page on the clothing talk, yet one of them was talking about his skin treatments and hair color. I found the conversation very entertaining. Now first of all, I’m not judging, as I understand the importance of your brand and how you present yourself, and I too have always had an appreciation of fine clothing. It did cause me to be curious about was how much these two young guys were investing in their inner self.

All of us spend some time each and every day on what I call our outer selves… you know the clothes, our grooming… just the time it takes to get prepared in the morning. But what about our inner selves? I’m referring to our psychology – Our feeling of calmness, balance or peacefulness. Not too long ago, I didn’t pay too much thought to words such as calmness or peacefulness, yet as I’ve matured, I’ve realized my ability to remain peaceful, calm and balanced has helped me handle situations more effectively and grow my business.

As I’ve connected with successful people, I’ve found the ones who possess a sense of peacefulness and calmness, seem to enjoy life a bit more, and quite frankly, are more enjoyable to be around. We’ve all met that person who has an upset during the day and as a result they become uptight and treat people harshly. Unfortunately, that specific behavior doesn’t solve the original problem, nor does it inspire others to want to help you.

One of the beliefs I’ve adopted from working with my coach is the belief that “life is not fair, yet it’s balanced.” Life is not fair, but it’s balanced, which I interpret as things happen, both good and bad, and they always balance out in the end. Losing a business deal is never enjoyable, yet knowing another one, and possibly a better one is right around the corner gives me a sense of calmness. It helps me to move on and continue with productive activity rather than staying in the storm. So I encourage you to invest into areas where you haven’t explored previously, such as mediation, yoga, visualization or even mantras… the point being, in order to maximize our true potential, we must develop our inner self along with the work we put into our outer self.

Make this a productive month by investing in your inner self and being the best you can be. And remember, this is your year to Rise Above.

Don’t Shortchange Yourself – Las Vegas Speaker Dan Lier

April 11, 2015 By Dan Lier Leave a Comment

Today’s success track is focused on building value in you when people ask you what you do for a living?

So, what do you do? If you and I were to meet and I asked you “what do you do?,” how would you respond? So many people miss an opportunity to build value in what they do and separate themselves from the pack when they are asked the question.

For example, when people ask me what I do, which happens quite frequently as I’m traveling to various events… I could say, “I’m a speaker, an author, a consultant… or I could say, I’m a motivational speaker” yet that response throws me into the pack with the thousands of other speakers. According to the National Speakers Association, there are 40,000 paid speakers in the U.S. and 13.000 of them call themselves “motivational speakers.”

To separate myself I use a Value Statement. When someone asks me what I do, my response is this:

I run a consulting firm that helps companies increase sales and develop leaders by changing behavior.” And then I naturally pause, and then run into another quick statement providing the person a clear picture of what I do. So let me put it all together for you. When someone asks me “so what do you do” – I run a consulting firm that helps companies increase sales and develop leaders by changing behavior. For instance, you know when companies have kick-off meetings, national sales meetings, regional meetings or leadership meetings, I perform custom designed, interactive, high impact keynote talks or trainings which lead to increased performance in sales and leadership.

What I’ve done is separated myself from the “idea” or “image” that person may have had in their head if I would have just said a speaker. If they are a potential prospect, they typically follow with some questions and ask for a card.

My message to you is, don’t shortchange yourself my giving a common response that most people give – I’m a financial advisor, I work for New York Life, I’m a consultant… boring… and you’re thrown in a pile with all the others they may have met in the past.

Take a few minutes right NOW and design your value statement and separate yourself from the rest.

Make it a productive month and remember, this is your year to #RiseAbove

Keep Your Goals Alive – Las Vegas Keynote Speaker Dan Lier

February 3, 2015 By Dan Lier Leave a Comment

Today’s success track is about your “success psychology” and keeping your goals alive.

Here we are, still early in 2015 and yet people are talking about throwing in the towel. Yeah, throwing in the towel and giving up. What? I mean, c’mon, It’s only February.

Last month I was blessed to start the year strong with five corporate events, and I had three people share with me how they were disappointed in what they had accomplished so far in 2015. This led me to think about two specific distinctions that will impact our results in 2015 – our psychology and forgiveness.

First, let’s talk about our psychology. There is a resent movement in “success psychology” and research has determined only 25% of our long-term success in both our professional and personal lives is correlated with our intelligence and technical skills. That’s right, only 25% of our success is connected with our intelligence and technical skills. 75% is dependent on our mindset and how we process events in our lives. That’s exciting to me… that 75% of our success has to do with our mindset and how we process events.

And with that being said, it’s only February, and our New Year, our new adventure, our new journey – is just getting started.

Stay focused on where you want to go, not where you didn’t go.

The second point today is forgiveness. In order for anyone to move past disappointment, they must forgive either themselves or someone else.

For instance, if you didn’t have a great start to your 2015, let it go. Let it go and start over today. Forgive and forget. If someone else dropped the ball, let it go. That’s right, let it go. We cannot reach our highest heights holding on to negative energy, whether it’s from ourselves or from someone else.

So as we move forward this month, let’s take a moment and re-gather our thoughts, our focus and our energy, and let’s hit the re-set button. You can do anything you focus on and put your mind to, we just have to remember to be mindful of our mindset and forgive our disappointments and keep moving forward.

Make this month a productive month… and remember, this is your year to rise above.

Make a Difference – Las Vegas Motivational Speaker Dan Lier

January 19, 2015 By Dan Lier Leave a Comment

Happy New Year. I hope your 2015 has started out strong!

Today’s success track is about you making a difference in 2015. It’s always great to start a new year, to set goals and get a fresh start.

With the recent and very heartfelt passing of Stuart Scott, it caused me to think about the difference he made in many people’s lives. I know how I used to enjoy listening to his flair and his unique style, and I’ve talked to many other people that felt the same way. Making a difference is not something you typically hear about a sportscaster.

It caused me to think about how I can make a difference in more people’s lives. Not just the clients who hire me to speak to their sales and leadership teams. Even the prospects that don’t hire me, how can I make a difference in how they prepare for their event? During the sales process, how can I educate the buyer on questions to ask a speaker and how to pick the right speaker for them?

Besides the obvious of impacting the people we are connected with, our family, our friends and our clients, we all have the ability to make a difference in people’s lives we come across on a daily basis. Think about all the people we engage with on a regular basis – the employees at the grocery store, the coffee shop, the restaurant or the cleaners. How about our co-workers and our support team? Everyone needs a boost now and then, and we all have the ability to do just that.

The key is to stay in the present. It’s common to be running through conversations in our heads about what did happen or could happen, yet we miss out on opportunities to connect with people and to make a difference. We miss opportunities for growth and without growth there is no fulfillment.

So as we start the first month of 2015, I encourage you to stay present in your communications with people. Stay present in the short time it takes for a transaction at the restaurant of even the rental car counter.

You can make a difference in the lives of many people and today is a great day to start. This is your year to #RiseAbove.
