Dan Lier: #1 Las Vegas Motivational Speaker
Well first of all, Happy New Year! I hope you’ve come out of the gates strong and full of confidence. I kicked off my 2017 in Palm Beach, FL at the PGA National Resort, where I performed a customized keynote for a national kick-off meeting. It was a great way to start.
This week I have four events in four cities… followed by two more events toward the end of the month. Seven paid Events this month. It’s the best January I’ve had in my career. Now the key is, how do I keep it going?
Now, Here’s what just happened, many of us set our goals for 2017, those of you that didn’t… what’s going on? If you knew that setting goals would increase your chance of progress and success, would you do it? Of course you would.
After setting my goals for 2017, I felt excitement, I was focused and full of confidence. The reason I’m sharing this with you is that others have told me they’ve felt the same way I did, focused, excited and full of confidence…, yet by 3 or 4 months into the new year, they’ve lost their fire. They lost sight of what they put together for the New Year. Can you relate with that?
Well today’s success track is what I call the 12x Achievement Model. Simple concept I adapted from a conversation I had with Brian Tracy. Brian told me if you wrote down your goals once per month, you had a 12x more chance of hitting them. He also said if you wrote them down once a week, you’d have a 52x chance of hitting your goals. Made sense to me, as consistency always leads to success. So I took the monthly idea and morphed it into 12x Your Goals… and here’s how it works for me.
I do a goal setting session every New Years Day. This year, our whole family did it together. Like I said, when I was finished with setting my new years goals, I was excited, focused and full of confidence. Knowing that having obstacles and setbacks along the way, it’s natural to lose a bit of your fire. So here’s what I do to counter that natural human behavior trait to adapt to it’s surroundings… I re-visit my original New Years goals on or around the 1st of every month. I re-look at them, and most importantly, I make adjustments.
What lowers our self-esteem as humans, is to not follow through or achieve what you set out to do… yet creating a plan for success is one of the most empowering human actions. So by adjusting my goals to create progress and move toward success re-ignites that feeling I had on New Years Day. Excited, Focused and confident. And then I start a new month feeling fresh and excited. Give it a shot.
The 12x Achievement Model has worked for me for years and I’m confident it will work for you.
Make this month a month you build momentum for more great months to come.Share...
Today’s success track is focused on YOU utilizing the Power of Association to improve your business and your life.
I’ve been a student of human behavior for since 1987 when I was introduced to Dr Denis Waitley’s book The Psychology of Winning. His words sparked my interested and I’ve been a student ever since. Just last week I posted a short video clip on Instagram on the Power of Association from a live event I recently did in Kansas City and received lots of positive feedback and shares, so I thought I would talk about it.
You all know about classical conditioning from Ivan Povlov’s work in the early 1900’s, which led to the father of behaviorism, John B. Watson, then of course the incredible work of B.F. Skinner. Without getting too deep, how does the work of these three iconic psychologists impact our lives? (if you want to know more about the big three, go to my youtube channel and look at the psychology playlist)
In short script, here’s the game summary: How we present ourselves to people on a daily basis impacts how people feel about us? Think about it, if you consistently present yourself with a negative attitude, or all always focused on what’s wrong with the given situation, in a short period of time, you’ll create a negative association about yourself. What that means is, whenever someone sees you or even hears your voice, they start to feel negative, or event depressed. On the other hand, if every time you show up, you are positive or optimistic, you create a positive association with other people. It’s the same principle we all experience when we hear a song on the radio that instantly makes us feel good. It’s an association… it’s conditioning.
Here’s my message that will impact your business and your life, and it goes like this: People like to do business with people that make them feel good. I’m going to repeat that; people like to do business with people that make them feel good. Think about it, if you were the consumer and all things are fairly equal, the product, the price, the terms, etc. With that being said, one of the sales professionals was optimistic and positive, and the other is sarcastic, negative and always talking about what could go wrong, who would you rather do business with? The answer is simple. People like to do business with people that make them feel good. Ahh, and a big news flash here, that goes for relationships as well.
So start today and create positive associations with your business relationships, your prospects and most importantly, your friends and your loved ones. Great job today… and remember, this is your year to Rise Above.Share...
